Mint Your Music NFT: Full Video Tutorial

Welcome to your step-by-step guide on minting your Music NFT on BitSong Studio

Step 1: Connect to BitSong Studio

  • Access BitSong Studio: Open your browser and navigate to BitSong Studio.
  • Connect Your Wallet: Click the “Connect” button located in the upper right corner. Choose Keplr as your authentication method. Approve the connection in the Keplr pop-up (please note that two approvals are required).
  • No Wallet Yet? If you haven't generated a BitSong wallet or installed the Keplr browser extension yet, please follow our detailed guide: How to Create a BitSong Wallet with Keplr.

Step 2: Set Up Your Profile

  • Access Your Profile: Once connected, click your profile icon at the upper right.
  • Update Your Information: Fill in your username, add a profile picture, and upload a header image. Don’t forget to connect your email address. Although this step is optional, it is highly appreciated by the community and helps build trust. Save your profile information.
  • Navigate to “My Tracks”: Click your profile icon again and select “My Tracks” from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Upload Your Track

  • Start the Upload: Click on the “Upload” button to begin your Web3 music journey.
  • Select Your Music File: Choose the song you want to upload from your device.
  • Choose Your Artwork: Select the artwork you wish to associate with your track. This image will serve as the highlighted visual for your Music NFT.
  • Upload an Optional Video: If you have a video for your track, upload it now. Otherwise, click “Continue without video.”
  • Enter Track Information: Fill in the title of your song (this will also be the name of your NFT), select the language, and specify the version (e.g., radio edit, original mix, extended mix).

Step 4: Add Artist & Collaborative Details

  • Add Artists: On the same page, click on “Add Artist.” Enter the artist’s name, select their role (main artist, featuring, with, etc.), and provide their BitSong wallet address. If there's only one artist, press “Continue”; if there are multiple collaborators, repeat the process for each one. Note: Each artist must have a unique wallet address; the system will not allow duplicate entries.
  • Provide a Detailed Description: Write a complete and engaging description of your Music NFT. Explain who you are as an artist/band or label, describe the song, outline the journey it offers, and list the benefits for your collectors. This description is crucial for establishing the uniqueness and exclusivity of your NFT.

Step 5: Define Additional Metadata

Fill in Track Details:

In the next window, specify:

  • Genre: (e.g., house, pop, rock, dance, indie, etc.)
  • Country of Production
  • License Type: (e.g., "All Rights Reserved" means collectors cannot use the track for commercial purposes)

Preview Settings:

  • Preview Start Time: Define when the preview of your track begins.
  • Preview Duration: Indicate how long the preview will last.

Explicit Content:

Check the “Explicit” box if your track contains explicit content.

Live Recording:

If applicable, mark the box indicating that the track is a live recording.

Add Lyrics (Optional):

If your track includes lyrics, add them and select their language. This field is optional.

Step 6: Add Authors, Publishers & Royalties Information

Input Contributor Data:

In the following window, enter all details for authors and publishers, such as Producer, Publisher, Composer, etc. Include their names and BitSong wallet addresses.

Set Up Royalties:

This is one of the most important steps:

  • Add Royalties Right Holders: Enter each right holder’s BitSong wallet, specify their role, and assign the appropriate share of royalties (percentage of total royalties).
  • For Single Artists: Input one field taking 100% of the shares.
  • For Collaborations: Add multiple entries, ensuring each collaborator's wallet is unique. Adjust the share percentages using the provided sliders or manual input.

Step 7: Configure Marketplace Parameters

Marketplace Settings Overview:

These parameters are crucial as they determine your NFT’s sales dynamics and the benefits offered to collectors. Although our smart contract supports standard sales models like auctions and static sales (creating a fixed number of copies sold at a specific price), we currently operate on a dynamic model known as the bs-721 curve.

Understanding the bs-721 Curve:

  • The curve is based on the mathematical formula for the sum of squares of the first n natural numbers:
    n(n+1)(2n+1)
    /6.
  • Dynamic Pricing: With each purchase (mint), the availability (supply) increases, and with each sale (burn), it decreases. The NFT price starts from 0 and rises with every mint, while selling reduces the price.
  • Exclusivity Through Ratio: A lower curve ratio set by the creator increases exclusivity and drives higher prices for collectors.

For a detailed explanation of the bs721-curve, check out our dedicated article on bs721-curve explained and use our simulator to predict sales dynamics.

Set Additional Fees:

  • Creator Fee: Specify a royalty fee that will be added to the base price and applied to both mints and burns. Example: If the creator fee is 5% on a base price of 100 BTSG, the royalties are 100 * 0.05 = 5 BTSG per transaction.
  • Referral Fee: Optionally, assign a referral fee that will be deducted from the creator's royalties and allocated to a referral partner. Example: A 1% referral fee on 100 BTSG results in 1 BTSG; thus, the creator receives 4 BTSG if a referral is involved.

Launch Date & Time:

Set the launch date and time for your Music NFT. You may choose to launch immediately or schedule it to build anticipation and generate hype within your community.

Step 8: Minting Your Music NFT

  • Review and Publish: Once all metadata is completed, review your details carefully.
  • Initiate Minting: Sign all the required transactions using Keplr to publish your metadata and mint your Music NFT.
  • Minting Fee: Note that a current minting fee of 500 BTSG (approximately 3.5 USD) is applied as an anti-spam measure. This fee may be reduced or eliminated in future versions of the Studio. There is also a minting fee refund pool for creators who adhere to best practices and do not abuse the platform with illicit content or copyright infringements.
  • Post-Minting: Your NFT will be available on the platform and can be accessed via a unique link that you can share with your community. To have your NFT featured on the Studio's homepage, you must request approval from our team, please note that certain requirements may apply for homepage visibility.
