BitSong v0.24: Hyperlane is live, and BTSG is on Base
BitSong mainnet upgraded to v0.24 at block 28,760,000 on July 1st, 2026. The upgrade integrates Hyperlane, an open interoperability protocol, directly into the chain, and the first cross-chain route is already active: BitSong ↔ Base.
Starting today, you can move $BTSG between BitSong and Base in a few seconds, from a single interface: hyperlane.bitsong.io.
What shipped in v0.24
The upgrade was approved by governance (Proposal #47) and executed as a coordinated, state-breaking upgrade at block 28,760,000. In this release:
- Hyperlane core and warp modules, compiled into the BitSong node via
hyperlane-cosmos v1.1.0. Bridging is not an external service bolted onto the chain, it's a first-class chain feature. - Cosmos SDK v0.53.7, CometBFT v0.38.23, and wasmd v0.53.4, keeping BitSong on current, maintained releases of its core stack.
If you want the full technical details, the release notes cover everything, including the upgrade handler and binary checksums.
Why Hyperlane
BitSong has been interoperable within the Cosmos ecosystem since day one, IBC connects us to Osmosis, Cosmos Hub, and other chains. But the majority of on-chain users, wallets, and liquidity live on EVM networks.
Hyperlane closes that gap, and it does it in a way that fits how we build:
- Chain-native, not custodial. Hyperlane runs as modules inside the BitSong node. There is no third-party bridge operator holding your funds. Collateral is locked by the chain itself.
- Modular security. Every route is verified by an Interchain Security Module (ISM). The BitSong ↔ Base route uses a multisig ISM: a set of validators observes BitSong, signs every outbound message, and Base only accepts transfers carrying those signatures.
- Permissionless expansion. New routes to other EVM networks don't require negotiating with a bridge provider. They can be deployed, tested, and activated as the ecosystem needs them.
How the BitSong ↔ Base route works
The route is a Hyperlane warp route with a simple, auditable design: collateral on one side, a canonical ERC-20 on the other.
- Lock. You send BTSG to the warp route on BitSong. The tokens are locked as collateral on-chain.
- Dispatch. The Mailbox module emits a cross-chain message with the transfer details.
- Verify. Hyperlane validators sign the message, and the ISM on Base verifies their signatures.
- Mint. The BTSG contract on Base mints the same amount to your address.
Bridging back is the mirror image: BTSG is burned on Base and unlocked on BitSong. Every BTSG on Base is backed 1:1 by BTSG locked on BitSong, total supply never changes.
BTSG on Base is a single canonical token:
| Network | Base |
| Contract | 0x0357d61ede1cbcb38981b11117cfca1854ca28ad |
| Symbol | BTSG |
| Decimals | 6 |
If a token on Base claims to be BTSG and doesn't match that address, it isn't BTSG.
Bridge BTSG today
The bridge is live at hyperlane.bitsong.io. To make a transfer you need:
- A Cosmos wallet with BTSG (Keplr or Leap) and a small amount of BTSG for fees.
- An EVM wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rabby) for the Base side.
- A few seconds. Transfers are typically delivered shortly after the message is signed and relayed.
Open the bridge, connect both wallets, choose the direction and amount, and confirm. You can follow the transfer status directly in the interface.
We also published a dedicated page that explains the integration in depth: bitsong.io/hyperlane.
What this unlocks
Base is one of the largest EVM ecosystems, home to Coinbase's on-chain products, a deep DeFi landscape, and millions of active wallets. With BTSG on Base:
- BTSG is usable where EVM users already are. Hold it in MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet, move it with the tools you already know.
- Liquidity can grow beyond Cosmos. DEX pools, lending markets, and on-chain apps on Base can now integrate BTSG as a standard ERC-20.
- The music economy gets a second home. BitSong's long-term goal is to make music assets, starting with BTSG, and fantokens after it, usable across ecosystems, not locked into one.
Base is the first route, not the last. The same infrastructure that connects BitSong to Base can connect it to any EVM network, and we'll expand routes based on where demand and liquidity develop.
Thank you, validators
A state-breaking upgrade only works when the validator set moves together. Every active validator coordinated on the halt height, swapped binaries, and brought the network back cleanly. Thank you, upgrades like this are why BitSong can keep shipping infrastructure at this pace.
